The Complete Annals of Đại Việt or Đại Việt sử ký toàn thư is a national historical series of books complied in form of a chronicles recording history of Vietnam from King Duong Vuong reign (2879 BC) to Le Gia Tong reign of the later Le Dynasty (1675). The series were carved, printed and published for the first time in the 18th year of Chinh Hoa reign (1697). This is a great success contributed by different generations of historians under the later Le Dynasty.
The Complete Annals of Đại Việt is the oldest official historical texts which remains comprehensive up to now. It is an invaluable treasure of Vietnamese culture, a rich source of information to research into history and other social science’s branches. The later national historical texts of Vietnam such as the Annals of Đại Việt or the Imperially Ordered Annotated Text Completely Reflecting the History of Viet were compiled basing on the Complete Annals of Đại Việt.
